Implementation of mid-day meal scheme into limelight

Today’s child is the citizen of tomorrow whose primary requirement is nutritional food, good education and grooming. The Mid-Day Meal Scheme (MDMS) was started to provide a cooked nutrition meal on every school day. The basic purpose of this scheme was to improve enrollment, retention and attendance of children in school and simultaneously improving nutritional levels among them. MDMS is the largest feeding program in the world and would be a successful scheme when it was implemented in a proper way. But that’s not happening now due to fraudulent activities are taking place in MDMS. Every year thousands of crores are being allocated for this scheme implementation. The greedy officers diverted hundreds of crores from the funds allocated for this scheme. Nutrition food supplies are also being diverted from reaching the students and are being in black markets. There are even cases of food poisoning. The proposed block-chain technology based MDMS will leave no scope for these activities. The proposed system makes traceability and accountability easy with minimal human intervention.
