Analyzing the best Location for the Central Node Placement for Energy Efficient and reliable WBAN

This paper investigates the best position for the center node for the on-body Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) using the CM3A channel model operating at the WISM band (2.4 GHz) band. A comparative performance evaluation of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), bit energy and bit error rate (BER) has been carried out for two considered scenarios with a center node at the right hip and chest. Further Symbol Error Rate (SER) based performance analysis of center node is evaluated and compared for multi-level Frequency Shift Keying (M-FSK) and multi-level Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (M-QAM). Simulation results for the assumed system model exhibits better performance of M-FSK for all cases with the best performance being received for the center node situated at the right hip compared to the chest.
