Investigation on different Rain Conditions over 40 Gbps DPSK-FSO Link: ALGERIA Climate

Free Space Optical (FSO) links have recently become attractive means of transmission thanks to their simple, fast and economical deployment. However, their fragility in the face of severe weather conditions that may reduce visibility to few meters is a challenge. Thus, more knowledge of the FSO channel under all weather conditions like rain, snow and fog is therefore necessary in order to provide solutions to make this type of connection more reliable, in particular with the choice of an appropriate modulation format. This paper presents the performance analysis of 40 Gbps Return to Zero-Differential Phase Shift Keying -FSO (RZ-DPSK-FSO) system under different rain conditions taking the weather of ALGERIA as example of study. According to OptiSystem simulation results in terms of Bit error rate (BER) variations versus the range, it has been observed that as atmospheric condition changes from clear weather to rain conditions, link distance range decreases. Furthermore, the outcomes showed that the proposed system based on DPSK modulation format exhibits acceptable performance levels.
