Studies on Performance of Diesel-Engine Utilizing Soybean-Oil base Bio-Diesel Incorporated With Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes

In present era of transportation, petroleum products like Petrol and Diesel are consumed at higher rate which tends to maximize the cost of fuel, pollution and depletion of conventional fuel. To solve this issue, there is need to identify the alternative fuels for automobiles. Biofuels like Biodiesel is an alternative fuel can be added in conventional fuel at 10 to 20 % and can be used without modification in design of Diesel engine. This may reduce the consumption of Diesel by some percentage. In present work, a study is conducted to identify the influence of adding Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNTs) in Soybean oil-based Bio-diesel mixture on outcome of the Engine. The process parameters of engine are optimized using Taguchi method. Different blends Soybean oil biodiesel (B20, B40 and B60) along with MWCNTs (0.5%, 1.5

). It is observed that load is critical parameter which influences the engine performance, as load increases, the BP increase, BSFC decreases and EGT increases.
