Semiotic Aspects of Artificial Intelligence Representation in Socio-Political Discourse

The depth of the penetration of information technologies into public and private life, as well as their increasing use on a massive scale in the context of the pandemic, has brought into focus the need for an interdisciplinary approach to the analysis of representations of artificial intelligence in the socio-political space and research of its semiosis in syntactic, semantic and pragmatic dimensions.Empirical research included the analysis of documents (reports and analytical materials of UNESCO, the European Commission, the Royal Society of London, Stanford University, as well as normative documents of the Russian Federation), public opinion polls (VCIOM, Rambler & Co), discourse analysis, semantic and content analysis of materials of russian and foreign media.The main contradiction in the multi-digit estimates of artificial intelligence, its essence, and the purpose that we have found at all levels of socio-political discourse, is as follows: artificial intelligence is a tool for control and (or) for development. These perceptions are polarized in Russian society.
