Design of 8/6 Pole Switched Reluctance Motor Drive Using ANSYS Simplorer

Switched Reluctance motor is evident to be applicable for many industrial applications, in particular Electric Vehicle applications as on today. SRMs have utmost significant potential key features for electric vehicle propulsion system over IMs and PMSMs including high reliability, high operating temperature tolerance, high speed range, suitable for gearless operation and ease of manufacturing. The widest applications of SRM leads to the potential improvement in its drive system. The control of SRM is complex but it can be achieved through proper control of the switching angles and current magnitude. This could be executed through the commanded object for different modes of operation. The proposed work aims at the design of suitable driver system for 8/6 pole,2.2 KW SRM using ANSYS Simplorer. The simulation results are validated with the aid of the prototype model which is built using Arduino microcontroller.
