BLDC Motor With Solar PV Fed Luo Converter For Water Pumping Application

A Luo converter-based water pumping system fed by a user-defined SPV array is presented and its performances are analyzed in this paper. From various DC-DC converters, a basic Luo converter is chosen to acquire as much power from the SPV array as possible and to safely start the BLDC motor. The intrinsic properties of the elementary Luo converter, which has only one semiconductor switch and fewer components, are that it reduces output current ripples and provides an endless zone for tracking the maximum power point (MPPT). A voltage source inverter (VSI) is employed to reduce high frequency switching losses and achieve high system efficiency. With the SPV array, the BLDC motor-pump receives rated DC voltage power and the Luo converter switches are used to their full potential, increasing the converter's efficiency. At several operating situations, which includes startup, dynamic, and steady state, MATLAB/Simulink simulation results demonstrate the suitability of the proposed system.
