Integrated Buck-Zeta Converter

This article presents analyses of the Integrated buck-zeta converter at continuous conduction mode (CCM). This converter is implemented by adopting a buck converter to a conventional zeta converter. In other words, this circuit is designed by eliminating an H-bridge cell transistor and diode from the DISO zeta converter topology. Reducing the number of components increases the converter efficiency. The output voltage polarity of both zeta and buck stages are positive, unlike any multi-port buck-boost and Cuk topologies. Compared to multi-port boost and SEPIC converters, serializing the input voltage sources is an essential advantage of the integrated buck-zeta converter, which contributes to higher levels of DC voltage at the output, improves the reliability and ensures an adequate redundancy. As a result, this converter is a suitable candidate for uninterrupted power supplies. The state-space equations modeling the whole converter are obtained in the steady-state. Then, applying the averaging methods to the state-space equations yields formulas calculating the average current of inductors and the average voltage of capacitors. Finally, analyses and calculations are verified by simulating the circuit using the MATLAB-Simulink environment.
