Open Issues Automating Multi-Environment IoT Systems

The Internet of Things (IoT) integrates billions of smart devices into multidisciplinary systems. They are meant to improve people’s quality of life by automating tasks. Although automation is achieved, the management still has to be carried out manually, thus not reaching the expected benefits. IoT management is becoming time-consuming as the number of devices increases. Learning systems and virtual assistants are emerging to address this problem, but are limited in their management capabilities and cannot manage multiple environments. This paper identifies the open challenges encountered in proactive IoT multi-environments and proposes a high-level solution as a starting point to address them.
