Design and Analysis of Optical Frequency Comb Generator Employing EAM

Recently, there has been increasing interest in orthogonal flatted optical carriers employing an optical frequency comb generator (OFCG) driven by optical modulation. In this paper, an optical frequency comb generator (OFCG) based on an electro-absorption modulator (EAM) is constructed and theoretically demonstrated. A mathematical model of the constructed OFCG is then built to investigate the generated optical frequency comb lines at the EAM output. The setup includes an EAM and a sinusoidal RF signal source that directly drive the modulator. A Flat OFC source with many comb lines, tunable frequency spacing, and center wavelength is analytically modelled and simulated. The generated OFC lines can be used for high data-rate transmission. The findings show that perhaps the EAM generates 25, 51, 77, and 103 comb line segments with a comb spacing of 25 GHz, with the highest number being 103. The OFC lines that are formed may be utilized for elevated data transfer.
