Vanadium Dioxide Assisted Thermo-optic Perfect Absorbers for Optical Switching

Using vanadium dioxide as a phase change material, we demonstrate wide-angle thermally tunable perfect absorbers for optical switching at telecommunication window. We could achieve an unprecedented ~99% absorption at 1.55 µm wave-length. The analytical results perfectly match simulation results, thus, validatins our findings.
