Investigation of the Thermophysical Processes in Highly Thermally Conductive Composite Material with a Complex Structure

The most effective reduction of the heating level in the stator winding is carried out by reducing the temperature differences over the thickness of the main insulation. One of the key solutions of this problem is realized through increasing the thermal conductivity of the main insulation. In this paper, the authors consider the main insulation of the stator winding of turbine generator and discusses the optimization of the insulation tape design. The approach was developed to evaluate each component contribution of the composite tape to the equivalent thermal conductivity and for determining the direction of further upgrades focused on significant design changes to the object of study. The authors have developed parametric simulation tools by using Ansys Parametric Design Language.
