Power Quality Enhancement of Grid Connected Non Linear Industrial Load Using Distributed Static Synchronous Compensator

This paper explores the execution of Distributed Static Synchronous Compensator (D-STATCOM) for the Power Quality Enhancement of distribution network. The Power Quality of the network is tested under three different conditions i.e. Poor, Medium & Unity Power Factor (pf) Load. The V-I Characteristics of the Variable Non-Linear Load like Arc Furnace developed under varying pf of the load. The test Distribution Network is developed in MATLAB environment to validate the power quality issues. The voltage source convertor (VSC) based D-STATCOM is applied for reactive power exchange at load terminal. The proposed compensator is improving the Power Quality by improving Load Characteristics significantly. The power Quality responses are measured using Flicker Meter.
