Computer simulation of aircraft wires tips compression by pulse magnetic field

To equip an aircraft with electric wiring, bundled cables are normally used, which are connected to the onboard electric equipment by means of tips. Nowadays, the wider use of magnetic-pulse compression for tipping cables requires considerable volume of experimental studies to be performed. More detailed and cheaper information can be successfully gained by mathematical modeling. The problem is solved numerically using a finite-difference method realized with the help of the software system KRUG24. A mathematical model of elastoplastic medium is used. The mass forces acting in the skin layer are determined considering physics of the discharge circuit "pulse generator-inductor coil-tubular tip shell". The computer simulation of compression is performed for a series of tips of standard sizes and for bundled cables. The kinematics of the system of bodies, stressed-deformed state and fast-track parameter are studied for various loads of the tubular shell with pulsed magnetic field. The predicted and empirical values were found to be coincident within 3%. From the numerical results, a nomograph is drawn which can be used for finding optimum manufacturing conditions for tips in a broad range of tip sizes and cable stuffs.
