Introduction to the Spring 2022 Issue

This is an introduction to our April 2022 issue of IEEE Journal of Microwaves. In this volume we bring you ten regular submissions – with no invited papers and no special editorial content. It is therefore a snapshot of what we are publishing without editorial intervention. We will evaluate the response to this “regular” issue by the only means currently at our disposal: the article usage count. This particular statistic continues to keep pace with our 2021 measure. We are happy to report that we have maintained our #3 ranking (out of 272 IEEE technical publications surveyed) in downloads/articles published for all of 2021 – not only the originally reported January-June timeframe. As we begin the application for inclusion in various scientific databases outside of IEEEXplore, we hope that this statistic will help us navigate the complex review process we will be undergoing in 2022. In addition to summarizing our regular manuscript contributions in this editorial, we mention some upcoming reviewer and author events and a Call for Papers for a very special 70^th Anniversary of the MTT Society issue that we intend to release in January 2023.
