Location-Based Maximum Reuse Distance Resource Scheduling for LTE Cellular-V2X Sidelink Mode 3

LTE C-V2X sidelink (C-V2X) supports direct vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication. C-V2X has two operation modes: mode 3 and mode 4. In mode 3, the vehicle is allocated resources from the base station, while the vehicle autonomously selects resources in mode 4. A maximum-reuse-distance (MRD) scheduling is a resource allocation scheme for C-V2X mode 3. It increases the spatial reusability of resources by maximizing the distance between the vehicles using the same resources simultaneously, improving the QoS of each vehicle. However, an existing MRD scheduling does not consider the location of the vehicle that requires resource reuse, which causes a performance variation. In this paper, we propose a location-based MRD scheduling that considers the location of vehicles requiring resource reuse to maximize the distance between vehicles using the same resources. Simulation results show that proposed location-based MRD scheduling can improve QoS in terms of reliability, coverage, and timeliness in a typical high-way scenario.
