Simulation of Dam-Break Flow Impact on Wet Riverbed based on SPH and Wireless Sensor Networks

Simulation of dam-break flow impact on wet riverbed based on SPH and wireless sensor networks is implemented in the present study. With the help of Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) algorithm, the simulation model is established to study the flow regime of dam-breaking water when impacting on dry beaches and shoal riverbeds. The contrast between simulated results and experimental measured values demonstrated that the model can appropriately capture both experimental dam breach profiles and observed displacements. Furthermore, in order to analyze the influence mechanism during the dam breach evolution, the changes of velocity of failure flow with different wet riverbeds in front of the lock were considered. It was found that the thinner shoal riverbed is, the higher the energy dissipation is at the beginning of the damages with the help of significant vortex effect. But in the long run, bottom friction became the main energy dissipation mechanism during water migration. The proper integration of the wireless sensor networks can assiste to collection the data effectively.
