The Commonly used Approaches for the Diagnosis of Discrete Event Systems: Overview and Comparative Study

Discrete-event systems are a very important class of industrial systems in various fields (aeronautics, automobile, agri-food, etc.) and they have been the subject of several research, especially concerning the diagnosis of this type of systems. The risk of a system failure increases despite the various precautions implemented. Therefore, a diagnostic module (diagnostician) is necessary to prevent the propagation of failures and limit their consequences, which can be catastrophic at all levels. In these papers, we present the state of the art concerning the different DES diagnosis tools as well as a comparative study between these methods by representing the strengths and weaknesses of each tool, in order to justify the diagnostic method chosen to ensure this operation with the best possible performance.
