Maximum Power Control of Wind Turbines with Practical Prescribed Time Stability Based on Wind Estimation

To increase annual production capacity and ensure operational reliability for wind turbines (WT), maximum power point tracking (MPPT) always needs to be realized by tracking the optimal tip speed ratio (TSR), which depends on the accurate measurement of wind speed. However, it is difficult to obtain precise measured values. In addition, due to uncertain parameters and external interference, the maximum power point cannot be tracked quickly and accurately, resulting in the decline in annual power generation. In this paper, a RBFNN is used firstly to estimate the wind speed, which avoid using costly anemometers. Then a MPPT control scheme based on the practical prescribed time method is proposed. It is proven that the tracking error is always within the given boundary range. Moreover, both the settling time and the tracking precision can be preset in advance by designer. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.
