Design and FEM Analysis of a Novel Steering Shaped Photonic Crystal Fiber

In this work, a steering shaped photonic crystal fiber (S-PCF) has been designed and numerically investigated over a large wavelength spectrum from 1.00 µm to 2.00 µm. The background material of the S-PCF is pure silica and core region is injected with Silicon nano crystal (Si-nc). By employing the full vector finite element method (FV-FEM) the modal parameters like birefringence, power fraction, effective mode area and nonlinearity of the suggested S-PCF have been scrutinized. Moreover, geometric parameters of the S-PCF have been also tuned in a brute force manner. Numerical result provides that it offers birefringence of 1.1×10

at the operating wavelength of λ = 1.55 µm for the ellipticity e = 0.39. Now it can be realized that the proposed S-PCF is a prominent candidate for nonlinear applications and polarization maintaining fiber.
