Analysis study for the Iraqi-Syrian interconnection 400 kV electrical networks

The international electrical interconnections are creating and producing many features for the electric system of those countries that are may be neighboring or far away. Where the most considerable features are the electrical system security, flexibility, continuity, Facility, stability and the demand will be covered always within these interconnected countries. This paper will be introducing a brief of the interconnection systems in the world as well as an overview of the advantages of regional interconnection grids and the possibility to utilizing these features. Moreover, the possibility to improve, development and upgrade the capacity of the Iraq and Syria electrical systems through exploitation their location as a neighboring and connect their networks (400 kV, 50 Hz) together. This work aimed to studying the technical analysis and the power exchange possibility between Iraq and Syria as a part of the regional interconnection project which is starting with Egypt-Jordan and continue to include Syria-Lebanon-Iraq after that will connecting with Turkey-Iran and Europe.
