A Tale of Two Utility Companies - Towards an Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) Transformation Assessment

The need for digital transformation in the Utility sector, adapting to new regulations and business changes has led several utility companies to embark on a comprehensive ERP Transformation Assessment. Additionally, a number of these Utility companies are envisioning themselves within certain strategic imperatives that would position them for competitive advantage in the 21^st century. This paper whilst addressing the activities performed during significant transformation assessments done for such ERP modernization, focuses on the aspects dealing with the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) of the current ERP/IT systems within these utility companies. It discusses the case for transformation, the approaches and strategies utilized for the assessment, the current state findings within two typical but separate companies and recommended strategies and roadmap for a reimagined future state implementation of a Digital SAP ERP/EAM Core and Framework.
