Output current sensor based maximum power point tracking with load protection for PV system using Zeta Converter

The output current sensor-based method utilizes an adaptive variable step size technique using a fuzzy logic controller which is extensively employed in the PV system. It provides fast convergence and accurate detection of MPP with minimum steady-state power oscillations. Also, the complexity is minimized using fuzzy logic control. It continuously monitors the change in power (
$\Delta$
P) to adjust the duty shift (
$\Delta$
D), which is then fed to the MPPT algorithm to perform the adaptive operation. Also, it acquires the superior protection feature (under-loading and overloading) by utilizing the information of closed-loop duty cycle and hence switching off the converter when it crosses the threshold limit. This proposed Adaptive Step size algorithm is superior in tracking nature and efficiency by providing low steady-state loss with a protection feature. This algorithm is assessed and compared with Perturb and Observe and Incremental Conductance using MATLAB simulation.
