Millimeter Wave Patch Antenna for Vehicle-Mounted 5G Communication

Due to the continuous popularization of vehicles and the further improvement of technology, vehicle congestion often occurs, and the probability of collision accidents in the process of congestion will be greatly increased. It is important to help vehicles detect surrounding obstacles to reduce the occurrence of accidents. To solve this problem, this paper calculates the size of each part of the antenna by referring to the antenna literature, and then uses CST antenna simulation software to simulate the antenna. Direct simulation results show that the center frequency of the antenna has shifted, and the bandwidth and impedance of the center frequency do not meet the design requirements. Then, a microstrip line antenna with a central frequency of 28GHz was designed by changing the patch length and cut slot length. The simulation results show that the antenna perfectly conforms to the 1.5GHz bandwidth, the Z parameter impedance perfectly conforms to 50 Ohm, and the impedance of the Microstrip line is basically equal to 50 Ohm. The Realized gain is as high as 7.5 dBi, and 120 degree of wide-angle radiation can be realized in the E field. The antenna uses Roger 5880 as substrate plane, which can greatly reduce the thickness of the antenna, and can be better integrated into the integrated circuit of the vehicle. Finally, the antenna can increase the bandwidth of the antenna to achieve a wider range of uses and can expand the Angle of 3 dB beamwidth to achieve a wider range of target detection, so that users can get a better use experience.
