Two 5G Patch Antenna Designs for Millimeter-Wave

The design of two 5G millimeter wave rectangular microstripe patch antennas is introduced in this article, using two design methods, inset-fed and quarterwave-fed, respectively. For the two antennas, their operating frequency is 27.5GHz, the bandwidth of both exceeds 800MHz, and the substrate is Rogers5880. The results of S-parameter, Z-parameter, Realized Gain, far-field and radiation pattern obtained after simulation in CST software are also shown, both inset-fed antenna and quarterwave-fed antenna have a high radiation efficiency to achieve 7.74 dBi and 8.8 dBi realized gain respectively. Then it analyzes how changing the length, width, slots length of the patch (only changing a single variable) of the inset-fed antenna and substrate thickness of the inset-fed antenna (keeping the operating frequency constant)will affect the performance of the antenna (how does it affect the S-parameter and Z-parameter of the antenna).
