Ubbelohde Viscometer Verification Method and System Based on Computer Vision

Ubbelohde viscometer is a kind of viscometer that uses the capillary method to measure the viscosity of liquids. Which is, the liquid in the viscometer timing ball flows naturally under the action of gravity. Calculate the viscosity of the liquid or determine whether the viscometer is qualified by the time when the liquid flows through the upper and lower scale lines of the chronograph ball flowing through the Ubbelohde viscometer. The traditional Ubbelohde viscosity verification method requires manual verification. However, there are deficiencies such as large errors, low automation, and low efficiency in the verification process. In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, this paper designs a set of automatic verification system based on computer vision technology in accordance with the verification regulations of working Ubbelohde viscometer. This system is based on Delta DVP-PLC and force control configuration software to realize real-time monitoring of the working process; and it use OpenCV’s image processing function to analyze and process the video frame information collected by CCD cameras in real time; Complete the control system design of the verification work by writing PLC control programs. Experimental results show that the system can well realize the automatic control of the verification process, save a lot of labor, and effectively improve the verification accuracy effectively.
