240–260 GHz Waveguide to Microstrip Transition on Quartz Substrate

This paper reports the design, fabrication, and testing of 240–260 GHz probe type waveguide to microstrip transition on quartz substrate; which acts as an initial step towards the development of receiver front end at sub-millimeter-wave frequencies. The transition is developed on quartz substrate. The measured insertion loss is less than 1.7 dB with return loss better than 10 dB in the range of 240–260 GHz.
