Sag characteristics analysis of an ACSR300/25 conductor under temperature changes

Transmission lines are prone to strand breakage in the face of freezing disasters, and short-circuit problems can also occur due to changes in sag. How to make the ACSR can operate normally in an environment with large temperature changes and complex terrain is an urgent problem to be solved at this stage. This paper studies the influence of temperature on the elastic modulus of the wire, establishes an analysis model of the wire sag, applies a temperature load on the model and changes the elastic modulus, and calculates the variation of the wire sag. The change of the sag of the conductor after power-on is studied. In this paper, the influence of temperature on conductor’s elastic modulus is studied, and an analysis model of conductor’s sag is established. The variation of conductor’s sag is calculated by applying temperature load and changing elastic modulus on the model. The change of conductor sag after electrification was studied. The results show that under the influence of the coefficient of linear expansion and elastic modulus, the change of wire temperature makes the wire sag change greatly. Compared with the sag at normal temperature, the increase rate of wire sag at high temperature is 20%. The increase in wire sag due to the change in elastic modulus accounts for 5% of the total increase. Considering the change of elastic modulus, the calculation of sag cannot be ignored.
