Design and Development of Particle Accelerator Components for a 10MeV Industrial Linac

This article presents the design of solenoid focusing magnet and steerer magnet to minimize beam loss in the drift space after the electron Linac exit. Scan horn is located at a distance of $\sim$ 700mm from the Linac exit. Focusing magnet is designed such that beam is nearly parallel along the beam line. Transfer matrix method is employed to calculate required magnetic field that is 0.344 T. Same is verified by solving the beam envelope equation. Magnet size is optimized to get magnetic field of 0.34T using CST studio suite. Beam trajectory is evaluated using CST particle studio. X and Y steerer magnets are also designed using CST studio suite. At magnetic field of around 114 Gauss, beam deflection of 25 mm is observed. These findings form the framework of designing accelerators for industrial applications.
