Pseudo-phase Space Reconstruction of Pulse Wave Biomedical Signals

Pseudo-phase space reconstruction of pulse wave biomedical signals is described in this paper. Samples of carotid artery has been obtained from healthy subjects using “Biotonar” device. The form of the pulse wave reflects a rate of pressure change in the arterial system, the condition of the vessel wall and the heart valve operation. In most cases, pulse wave signal is random and unstable, which corresponds to chaotic behavior of a dynamic system. Therefore, methods that are widely used in non-linear system analysis should be applied to blood pressure signal processing.
