Matching Analysis of Synergic Development of the Energy Internet Industry System

The development of the Energy Internet industry system promotes the transformation of the energy industry, which upgrades the traditional energy industry to an industry with dual attributes; that is, energy industry and energy service industry. However, the synergic development of the Energy Internet industry system is confronting challenges on how to achieve synergy. Addressing this literature gap, this study adopts a systems theory perspective and begins with a theoretical review on industrial synergy mode and business synergy tactics. To enable synergic development, this study proposes a matching analytical framework with three dimensions; that is, industrial synergy mode, business synergy tactics, and influential factors. Through in-depth interviews and investigation, we conduct a matching analysis, proposing a three-dimension model and suggesting a matching scheme that, first, the most appropriate industrial synergy mode for the synergic development of the Energy Internet industry system is the industrial ecosphere mode. Second, the selection of business synergy tactics is dependent on the impact of influential factors; that is, while the electric grid business is the “Body” business, leading the “Four Wings” businesses, they have different methods of resource reusability to realize synergy. This study thus contributes to research on the Energy Internet industry system by proposing a direction and guidance to its synergic development.
