Simulation of Battery Energy Storage in Cyber Physical Systems Using Different Converter Models

With the deep coupling of the information and power flows in the power grid, modeling and simulation is of the greatest challenges in cyber physical system (CPS) research. The modeling and simulation methods of active distribution network components should ensure accuracy and efficiency of the simulation analysis. In this paper, the electromagnetic transient model of battery energy storage system is established in PSCAD/EMTDC. Three different converter models are applied to multi-time scale transient simulation. The calculation results show that the detailed and switched models of DC-AC converter give detailed and accurate information characteristics, while the simulation of averaged model is beneficial to the improvement of simulation efficiency.
