The Prediction of Apple Inc. Stock Price with Machine Learning Models

The uncertainty of future stock prices makes the stock become a risky investment option. Even though the exact future stock prices can not be calculated, many machine learning models can be used for predicting the stock prices. In this paper, Apple Inc. stock prices from March 27th, 2008 to March 27th, 2018 are selected as a dataset. Five machine learning models: Moving Average model, Linear Regression model, K-Nearest Neighbors model, Prophet model, and Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) model, are applied to the dataset. In addition, these five machine learning models are compared by calculating each Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE). Since the stock price of Apple Inc. is dramatically decreased on June 9^th, 2014, corresponding prediction has been completed by analyzing a minor dataset, which includes the data started from June 9^th, 2014 to June 9^th, 2017.
