A New Single-Phase Single-Stage Switched-Capacitor based Seven-Level Inverter for Grid-Tied Photovoltaic Applications

The aim of this paper is to introduce a single-phase single stage seven-level transformer-less inverter based on Switched-Capacitor (SC) cells. The proposed Multilevel Inverter (MLI) is capable of generating the peak output voltage up to 1.5 times the input voltage source. The boosted voltage is accomplished by a single dc supply which is a suitable feature for low voltage low power grid-connected Photovoltaic (PV) applications. Furthermore, it provides reactive power in leading and lagging Power Factor (PF). Additionally, the applied capacitors can be charged under self-balanced condition. The simulation model under MATLAB/Simulink verifies the effectiveness of the proposed structure.
