A Circularly Polarized Dual Band Stacked Patch Antenna for C-Band Applications

This article proposes a low profile dual frequency stacked patch antenna. The dual frequency is obtained by employing a stacked-patch configuration. The proposed antenna, is of $0.4\lambda_{0}\times 0.4\lambda_{0}\times 0.04\lambda_{0}(\lambda_{0}$ is free space wavelength of 5GHz) size, which is easily adjustable to any surface. Using rectangular slots on the patch, extended tabs on the surface and a conductive via loaded into the antenna structure provides AR bandwidth of 0.7% at both frequencies. The simulated results obtained from the antenna are impedance bandwidths from 4.75 to 4. 50GHz in the lower level band and from 7.41 to 7.70 GHz in the higher level band, separately. Besides these merits, the proposed one is suitable for Fixed Satellite (4.50GHz-4.75GHz) meteorological satellite systems (7.41GHz-7.70GHz) communications.
