Smart Use of Vehicle's Existing Plastic Substrates for GPS Antenna Integration in Automotive Applications

This paper presents a smart use of the vehicle's native plastic substrates for GPS antenna integration. The main objective is to integrate the antenna into the vehicle's body while respecting its aesthetics and leveraging plastic layers available in the part. The proposed antenna was optimized to provide a circular polarization for L1 GPS frequency. A prototype was fabricated and measured demonstrating a good agreement with simulation results and promising performance.
