Split-Field Domain Decomposition Algorithm with Fast Convergence for Electromagnetic Analysis

In this work, we propose a new split-field domain-decomposition (DD) algorithm, which can be readily parallelized in time domain. Different from conventional DD methods where interface fields are shared in common between adjacent domains, we split the field on the interface into

components, where

is the number of domains sharing the interface. Each domain solves one component of the interface field. The resultant numerical system allows for each domain to be directly solved in a decoupled manner, and meanwhile the convergence of the interface solution can be achieved in a small number of iterations. Numerical experiments on a large integrated package structure demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed DD algorithm, and resulting parallel solver.
