Feed Forward Neural Network Approach for Voltage Transients Identification and Classification

PQ problem is one of the important factors that need to be taken care in power system. One of the power quality problems that usually occur in power system is voltage transient. It can cause loss of life through electric shock and failure of load equipment. Previous method in identification and classification using FFT and STFT have a disadvantage in term of describing signal and window size and conventional technique that are currently used for PQ monitoring only based on visual of voltage and current waveform. In this research, MATLAB has been used to obtain the transient data. WT and ST method have been used to identify voltage transient using MATLAB coding. The wavelet analyser and the two-layer FFNN have been used to classify the voltage transient that occurs. This analysis presents on how the WT and ST method had been used to identify the voltage transient and the classification of voltage transient using FFNN.
