A Broadband Dual-polarized Base Station Antenna for LTE/5G Application

This paper presents a novel broadband dual-polarized base station antenna with the operating band of 3300MHz~3600MHz in LTE1900/LTE2300/LTE2500/5G. In the design, the radiation structure is made up of a dipole antenna with” H” slots and a semicircle. This antenna includes four parts: 1) a pair of metallic feeders printed on the top of the FR4 substrate with εr = 4.4 and the thickness of 0.5 mm; 2) two pairs of dipole antennas printed on the bottom of the FR4 substrate; 3) a metallic reflection plate; 4) a pair of coax feeds connected to the center of top substrate. The simulated results show that the bandwidth of 67% (1.9~3.8GHz) for S11<-10 dB with an isolation of 25 dB, and the average gain reaches about 9.6 dBi. Moreover, the antenna achieves a half-power beamwidth of 65 ± 5°. Thus, this broadband dual-polarized antenna is potential for LTE/5G base station applications.
