Blockchain-Based Decentralized Authorization Technique for Data Sharing in the Internet of Things

The idea behind the emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT) is to offer smart services and applications to make our daily life more convenient through the connectivity of smart devices. Smart devices are meant to observe the environment and accumulate data that are distributed to authorized users. IoT data collection, administration, and access indulge several stakeholders that comprise resource, resource owner, resource consumer, admin, data repository hosts, and data providers. In this paper, we presented a blockchain-based decentralized authorization model for the IoT environment. The proposed blockchain-enabled model is based on the concepts of the smart contract which is free from a single point of failure and offers a trusted, and decentralized data sharing scheme. Additionally, in the proposed work, IoT devices are not part of the blockchain network which results in making the system more scalable. The implementation validates the feasibility and usefulness of the proposal from the consumers as well as the owner's perspectives.
