Study on an Automatic Levelling and Positioning Control System Based on PLC

Many devices need a high-precision horizontal platform during normal operation, and sometimes the horizontal position of the platform needs to be adjusted, such as the isolation switch mechanism box in the power system. In the past, manual adjustment was commonly used, which led to the low efficiency and accuracy. This paper proposes an automatic control system for a four-legged platform based on programmable logic controller (PLC) and positioning module. The principle of levelling is analyzed and the strategy of raising legs in one direction is proposed which make control easy and efficient. The hardware and software of the control system are designed for this system. The experiment is carried out and the results show that the system can quickly adjust the level and horizontal position of the platform, with the functions of virtual leg detecting and limit protection.
