Planning of Renewable DG with Different Load Modelling

Excessive use of fossil fuels causes a rapid decline of conventional energy sources. Due to its harmful effects in the environment, scientists and engineers focus on renewable energy sources in the production of clean energy. The renewable generation has become more popular in recent decades due to the development of advanced control systems and power electronic devices. This paper gives a brief review on modeling different renewable energy sources like Solar and Wind. Renewable generation also encourages technologies like Distributed Generation (DG), Demand-side management (DSM), smart grid, microgrid etc. Integration of these technologies have major impacts in determining load behavior and load characteristics due to this reason, proper load modeling is essential. This paper has discussed several load models. It is seen that polynomial and exponential most used load models. Although in practical scenarios, composite load models are used.
