Operation Analysis of Grid Integrated Solar Micro Hydro Hybrid System for Rural community

The generation of power from renewable energy sources (RES) is increasing day by day because they are eco-friendly, more reliable and have less maintenance cost. A hybrid microgrid system has numerous decentralized loops. Therefore, proper coordination among hybrid microgrid subsystems with required performance is essential. In this paper, a hybrid solar and micro-hydro system model is proposed which includes islanded and grid connected hydro with the solar PV system. The hydropower generation uses the synchronous generator that regulates the voltage using a load controller for standalone operation. The analysis of the whole system is carried out and verified in the Simulink and can be implemented in the Amrita Micro-Hydro system with the Solar DC microgrid at Komalikuddi tribal village in Idukki district, one of the 101 villages adopted by Mata Amritanandamayi Math.
