Optimal Traction Power Distribution Strategy for Dual-motor Electric Vehicles

This paper proposes an efficiency-based optimal energy management strategy for a dual-motor all-wheel-drive electric vehicle to maximize the remaining battery state-of-charge at the end of the journey. The objective of the research is to distribute traction force in acceleration duration and allocate regenerative as well as mechanical braking force in deceleration interval to these two electric motors. Firstly, the energy consumption for the vehicle is formulated. Then, a searching technique is applied to find the optimal distribution factors. The performance of the proposed strategy is validated by simulation with two representative driving cycles. Simulation results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed energy management system.
