Deployment of Energy Storage System for Current Microgrid Environment: An Overview

Engineers and policymakers are increasingly focused on energy storage (ES) solutions in response to rising concerns about the capacity and resilience of global energy grids, along with the effects of fossil fuels on the environment. Although solar and wind power are inherently unreliable, ES can help mitigate this problem by improving grid reliability and allowing quicker grid response to large fluctuations in demand by reducing the necessity for backup power plants. The effectiveness of an ES system is determined by its ability to react quickly to demand changes, the rate of energy loss during the storage process, the total amount of energy stored, and the rate at which it can be recharged. This paper presents the characteristics of the current available ES devices and their policies around the world, and their importance for Electric Vehicles (EVs).
