Design of 17-Level Inverter with Reduced Switch Count

Multilevel inverters (MLIs) are unique in that they produce a voltage waveform that is a better staircase copy of a sinusoidal waveform, which makes in this paper, we discuss a 17-level asymmetric single-phase MLI with asymmetrical DC sources and no H-bridge, the proposed architecture is useful for grid-connected MLI for solar PV applications which provides up to 17 levels of output voltage. In order to explain the proposed topological modes of operation, diagrams and a switching table are used Because of this, this architecture reduces the number of components, the price of the system and its size. The 17-level MLIs' cost function (CF), total standing voltage (TSV), power loss, and efficiency are all studied. The suggested MLI architecture is compared to numerous previously reported cost-effective topologies using a cost function derived from total standing voltage.
