Design of Novel Hand Glove based Dry-Iontophoresis System for Treating Palmar Hyperhidrosis

Palmar hyperhidrosis is a condition that causes excessive and uncontrollable sweating from the palms of patients and interferes with their daily tasks. There are many methods available today to treat this condition, iontophoresis being one of the most widely used ones. This paper aims to optimize the design of existing iontophoresis machines to treat palmar hyperhidrosis. The optimized design consists of a glove layered with a thin aluminium sheet on its bottom surface with a compact controller equipped with a rechargeable battery. We have used a Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) sensor to obtain the skin conductance values and have used MATLAB to analyze the waveforms and were used to analyze the results of the treatment over a period of one month. This study aims to provide a low-cost, portable solution for the treatment of palmar hyperhidrosis.
