Cable defect detection technology based on low frequency method and damped oscillation wave

The defects in the cable will lead to a series of accidents in the power system. These accidents will bring a series of negative effects and economic losses. At present, there are three main detection methods for cables. They are withstand voltage detection method, insulation loss detection method and partial cable discharge detection method. These methods have some disadvantages. They need different detection equipment, and their accuracy is low. Therefore, this paper proposes a technology based on very low frequency cosine square wave and damped oscillation wave to detect cable defects. Among them, VLF method is suitable for voltage detection at cable end. Damping oscillation wave method can detect the dielectric loss and whether cable discharge occurs. The proposed method can effectively integrate the above three detection methods.
