Design of a Compact Quarter-mode Substrate-integrated Waveguide Triple-band Antenna for Sub-6 Applications

A compact quarter-mode substrate-integrated waveguide triple-band antenna is proposed in this paper. The three operating bands are obtained by three square SIW cavities composed of three quarter-mode parts. All three quarter-mode parts are implemented on a single substrate and can be independently tuned. The compact structure due to the three quarters located at a back-to-back configuration and sharing a same row of metalized vias. A QMSIW triple-band antenna simultaneously operating at 2.4/3.5GHz and 4.8GHz bands, the merit of this design achieves a miniaturization of 75% compared with a traditional SIW antenna. To verify the design, the antenna is manufactured. The measured results are similar to the simulation results.
