Modeling the Strategies to Control the Impact of Photochemical Smog on Human Health

Photochemical smog is one of the most dangerous air pollutants which spans over a very large scale around the urban world making it a global crisis. This paper explores how photochemical smog develops and emerges as a major air contamination. Air pollutants such as Nitrogen Oxides (NO, NO
2
) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are notable constituents of photochemical smog. These air pollutants in the presence of sunlight, which acts as a catalyst, undergo a series of reactions to form a layer of ozone $\left({\mathrm {O}}_{3}\right)$ at ground level. This newly formed ozone layer is known to implicate injurious effects on human health. Therefore, in this study, a model is proposed which shows the impact of photochemical smog on health of the human beings. The intention of this paper is to provide solutions for reduction of amount of pollutants in air too. Specifically, it focuses on tree plantation and cloud seeding to reduce the intensity of smog production. The simulation results augment the proposal that effects of these solutions can have positive impact on human health by reducing air pollution.
